Uzbekistan U23 vs Azkals

Disappointing game. Difficult to watch. We need a team that can play together under common system long enough to become a coherent team.

The Azkals weren't adjusting to the match conditions. And why was PYH playing defense?

At least this is a training trip, but still.

Looking forward to how 2012 unfolds for the men's national team.

Props to the commentators, @mariellebenitez! Those Uzbekistan names were a mouthful! :-)

Seriously?

It's January 30, 2012. I had ACL surgery last May 2, 2011.

I'm almost 9 months post op and I've actually taken a break off working to just focus on getting better.

I've found it difficult to focus on recovery and going to the office, so my boss decided that it was time to for me to get better once and for all.

I don't know what has made this harder the second time around, but I'm getting really impatient.

I go to the gym thrice a week, and I know I'm getting better, but a part of me just wishes that I could wake up one day and have injury free knees.

Sometimes my better knee starts hurting after going to the gym too.  I feel like a lola with arthritis, and I'm only in my 20s.

I can run, but I'm advised to stick to the treadmill. This time last year I was psyching myself up to running 16k at the Condura Race.

I have a million and one things to be grateful for and this injury is so petty, but it is my biggest frustration today.  It becomes the thing that I blame for all the things that have gone wrong this year.

I remember how crappy I felt the first time I was injured, and that was really from a lack of endorphins because I had zero exercise. It does leave you feeling bleh.

Other knee related news. I've always felt that my more recent ACL knee was warmer than the older one, and I proved that it was!

My friend Ed has an infrared thermometer and I used it to measure the surface temperature of both my knees!  New ACL was at least a degree warmer!

I bet the primitive humans never tore their ACLs.

My long trip to Lima.

(download)

Lima, the only coastal capital city in south America was the venue for the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation's two day International Seminar on SME Policies and Practices to Promote the use of ICT.

It took me more than a day to arrive in Lima.
From Manila, I boarded a plane to Tokyo on Sunday, 8am. In Tokyo, I deplaned then after almost an hour reboarded the plane to New York. 17 hours of total flying time so far.

I arrive in New York's JFK airport at 3pm, Sunday. My flight to Lima isn't until 12:30am of Monday, so I claim my bags, clear US Customs then take the Airtrain to terminal 4. There I check in my luggage with LAN Airlines, get my boarding pass and head towards Manhattan.

I took the Subway from the Jamaica station to Lexington ave, since I was meeting a friend at 50th st and 2nd ave. I get there by 6pm. We have dinner at the Smith restaurant and kill time till it's time to catch a cab back to the airport. I leave at 10 pm to get to JFK at 10:35.

TSA security check, then I wait by the gate . Get informed that our flight is delayed to 10:25 am. We're sent to nearby hotel for the night.

The next day, all goes smoothly and I board the flight to Lima. After 7 hours, I arrive in South America.

Local time was 6pm, Monday October 25. Finally.

Before I leave for Peru.

I haven't really been blogging about therapy because honestly, I havent been working on getting my knee better. It's been harder to squeeze in time to go to the gym. I always end up eating or sleeping instead. So yes, I'm lazy.

Highlights of the past months:

1. My mom's 60th birthday! I co hosted with my Ate Sheila. My sisters and I sang with the Bloomfields and the guests had a great time. My comedic timing was on that night and I had my audience laughing out loud! Yay! Other people aside from my immediate family think I'm funny! FMG told me I had talent. Ü

2. The Shopinas.com Clickers in the PBA! Young team with a long way to go, our journey will be epic.

3. Turning 25. Yes, the quarter life cannot be denied. I spent it watching the Clickers, then "No Other Woman" with my friends.

4. S'mores pie! I made this from scratch and I wanna make it again. It's sooooo good. Check out smitten kitchen for the recipe.

5. See you on the other side, Steve Jobs. Sad, but I'm confident his legacy will live on. I'm tapping out this whole post on my iPhone4. It's awesome. Thankyouverymuch Steve and the Apple team.

6. I'm really glad football has finally gone more mainstream. As of today, the LA Galaxy seems scheduled to play our Azkals in December. Great for the fans! I've seen Beckham with the Galaxy, but I was underwhelmed by the football. I guess I must catch european matches to get the full effect.

Can you sense how random my thought pattern is? I've often wondered if I have ADHD. But as soon as I think I do have it, my mind changes and gets busy thinking about something else. Hmmmmmmm.

How to boil the perfect hardboiled egg?

-put eggs in a saucepan, cover with enough room temp water
-bring to boil, keep boiling for 2 mins
-turn heat off, let eggs sit in saucepan full of water for 10 mins
-get the eggs out and plop them in a bowl of cool water

The eggs should have no grey rings around the edge of the yolk. If it does, you failed.

Things I love: Travel edition

I like being comfortable while traveling. Ate Sheila and I went to HongKong last week wearing our trusty Vibram Five Fingers shoes. I love it because we breeze through security checks! It's great for walking around and it's so light it packs in a suitcase real well too!

I'm wearing the classic in silver and Ate Sheila is wearing the KSO in black. Both available on http://Vibramfivefingers.Shopinas.com

Check them out!

NBA Fit at Air21

(download)

The NBA Fit team, with Coach Erik Spoelstra, graced our company's quarterly morning program. They facilitated warmup, reaction time, agility and shooting drills among employees.

It was really a treat to host the event and meet Coach Spo and the rest of the NBA Fit Team. They're spreading the good news of exercise, proper diet and wise choices among the youth.

The Miami Heat Team has their healthy meals prepared by their chef. I'm curious to see how NBA players eat. I wonder how much food the average sports team consumes on a monthly basis.
